Biography

Eric Pinnar, MD, is a Board-Certified General Surgeon. He specializes in Advanced Laparoscopic, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Robotic Surgery. Dr. Pinnar maintains a broad interest in General Surgery, but specializes in Hernia repair, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, Anti-reflux Surgery, Biliary Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery. He has also specialized in Endoluminal Surgery and Breast Surgery.

Dr. Pinnar has been a pioneer in the development of Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery and is an expert in the field of Minimally Invasive Surgery, including the newest technologies such as Robotic and completely Incisionless Endoscopic Procedures. He is licensed to practice medicine and surgery by Florida, Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia.

Prior to relocating to Jacksonville, Florida in 2011, Dr. Pinnar successfully treated thousands of patients in the Northern Virginia/ Maryland/Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994 and completed his General Surgery Internship and Residency in 1999 at the Guthrie Clinic in Pennsylvania. Dr. Pinnar then joined his father, Dr. Robert Pinnar, in the practice of general surgery in Northern Virginia. He has always focused his practice on the newest and most advanced surgical procedures for all disorders he has treated. For his over 20 years in practice, he has been committed to the advancement of hernia repair, as well as reducing surgical risks and improving surgical outcomes.

Because Dr. Pinnar has continually maintained his interest in the development of emerging technologies, he has been an active and sought-after consultant with the surgical industry in the development of surgical equipment, multiple surgical devices, surgical mesh technologies, and applied techniques. He has served as faculty and consultant for multiple industry leaders in surgical technologies, including Ethicon, Covidien, Bard (BD), Allergan, Inamed, Allurion, USGI Medical, and Deep Blue Medical. He has also trained many young surgeons when serving as Asst Professor of Surgery for the General Surgery residency program at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Pinnar is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons. His special interest in the treatment of hernia keeps him committed to his constant vigilance to study and develop newer, more effective, and safer surgical treatments in the complex and dynamic realm of hernia repair.
