 Tips for a great experience

Once you’ve booked your telehealth visit, please refer to these tips to achieve the most out of your virtual appointment.

Prepare your mobile device or computer:

  • Check that the browser you will be using to connect is fully updated

  • Make sure you are familiar with the features and functions of your mobile device or computer

  • Be sure you have adequate battery life

  • Close any unnecessary programs running on your device

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi or cellular connection is strong

Set up for quality sound:

  • Find a quiet space where you are unlikely to be interrupted during your visit

  • Using earbuds with a microphone or a headset, may make it easier for you and the provider to hear each other

See and be seen:

  • Be sure you have good lighting – use overhead lights and shade lighting from windows, which can cause glare

  • Position your camera correctly – place it at eye level so your head and shoulders are fully visible

Dress appropriately:

  • If you need to show the provider your hernia, for example, wearing appropriate clothing to expose this area may help your provider see the area of concern you are describing

Decide if you need assistance:

  • If appropriate,, you may need someone to help you by holding a flashlight, or your mobile device.
